army engineering corp. it was acquired by st. modwen in 2004 when the mod had no further use for it. this 478 acre site is situated off the b4632, equidistant between stratford-upon-avon and the beautiful cotswold town of chipping campden, gloucestershire. the vision the proposals for meon vale seek to create a vibrant, self-contained and sustainable mixed-use development which includes an extension of greenway from stratford upon avon through the site. meon vale already benefits from: a leisure hub, football and cricket pitches, public open space and public access to woodland. ecological habitats and landscaping that have both been retained and improved. 800,000 sq ft of retained employment space. planning permission for 1,050 homes. multiple phases of development at meon vale have already been completed and st. modwen homes and persimmon homes are currently building out further phases of the site. planning permission for a primary school. planning permission for 500 homes was obtained in 2010, and a further 550 homes were granted planning permission in 2015 taking the total consent to 1050 houses which includes 35% affordable housing. planning permission for a and 3a. ecology & environment meon vale has been sensitively designed to minimise the impact on local wildlife by retaining important habitats and maintaining or improving pathways to enable species to move freely within the site. st. modwen is already committed to ecology at meon vale with the conservation of a rare species of butterfly having won the national marsh award for the “promotion of lepidoptera”, for habitat enhancement and management, supporting the protection of the endangered grizzled skipper butterfly. further work has now started on site to enhance habitats for water vole, bats, birds, grass snakes and great crested newts. overall, with careful design of the development and st. modwen’s commitment to management of wildlife habitats, the biodiversity of the site will be specialist, is set to build up to 550 more family homes and a primary school at its meon vale community near stratford-upon-avon, after being given the go ahead by councillors on stratford district council planning committee (east) last week. this next stage of development at meon vale will also include highway improvements and the relocation of the holiday village, which is set to comprise 300
